Coffee and Tea with Mrs. TC

Coffee and Tea with Mrs. TC

We have a near magical solution to solving the “Math Fear” syndrome and  here it is with Math Brain Doctor.  There is nothing better than seeing and experiencing it for yourself.   I developed this program many years ago, did pilot studies and am still using it with our students every year with great success.

Here is what happens.

  1. Our energized music engages every student.
  2. The students feel good and smile immediately.
  3. The student interacts

with the professional musicians and feels like a part of the group – fear goes away.  This is just the beginning of the great success the student will feel and I would like to share it with you.   Would you like to hear more?  Meet with me for our next coffee and Tea Break.

Hello!  Take a nice sip of that drink you have.   Aaahh – enjoy.

We were talking about brain growth and long term memory building and getting rid of anxiety and fear with academics.  It is a big subject with multiple components that takes time to connect it all and understand why it works.

This is Math Brain Doctor and that means, Math Taught Correctly.  We will hold “Math Taught Correctly” for another session.  Right now, I want to focus upon the student’s involvement with Math TC and how it works for them.

Math Brain Doctor draws the student in with uplifting, energized music.  Without conscious effort, the student begins to smile, and ….. aaahh … the body begins

to sway or tap to the rhythm.  The rhythm interlocks with the body’s own rhythm within and joy begins to build.    Where there is joy –positive brain engagement begins.  Now you see the

  1. The student’s attention is sparked.
  2. The Student’s body engages with the positive rhythm
  3. Singing – Now we ask the student to sing along with the Professional Musicians.  Well, what a thrill.  The  student becomes part of the performance and if family members or classmates also participate the student’s fear level begins to fade away.  It does not matter if the student makes a mistake in singing… There is no pressure, it will come along, and the student feels a social oneness and acceptance.

Well, what happens next?
We are seeing things, (see it); We are hearing it (hear it); We are saying it (say it) We are feeling it (rhythm); but where is touching it?

YES !!!  WE ALSO TOUCH IT (kinetic).   Our fingers have many sense neurons in them and they do somehow connect in marvelous ways to the brain…

Example… If you hurt your leg, what do your hands/fingers immediately do without you even thinking about it?  Your hands/fingers rush to help your leg.

Well…………..Math Brain Doctor captured this phenomena……..    We mentally put a value to each finger for each multiplication table and… Waaalaaa….  The Fingers take the message right to the Brain…..    OH YES….. The brain does the rest.    Now Long Term memory is building..   The student uses their fingers for just a short time and before you know it,   The student will just glance at their finger and the brain makes the mouth shout out the answer.   OH WOW…  The student’s confidence is like a huge quadruple scoop of ice cream.    Fear is gone – confidence abounds.

OH, but that’s not all…  There is a lot more to this wonderful happening.   Let’s get together again for Coffee or Tea and talk again.
